Avodah Farm is looking for good forever homes for five Australian Cattle Dog (aka Red/Blue Heeler)/Australian Shepherd mix puppies (although six are pictures, we are keeping one for ourselves). It would be wonderful if they could find homes on farms where they can work with livestock. We had this litter because both Alice, our Red Heeler, and Jack, Geoffrey's parent's Australian Shepherd, are awesome farm dogs, both of them very intelligent, good with farm animals and sweet tempered. Alice is an amazing cattle dog, and Jack also has good herding instincts. Born July 8th, they'll be eight weeks old and ready for new homes September 1st. $250 each, with a $100 deposit to hold yours. They are wormed, and will have their first shots.
Known as the Texas Heeler this mix is intelligent, loyal, personable and has strong herding instincts. These dogs will need lots and lots of exercise, hands-on reward-based training and a JOB in order to be happy, preferably one with livestock. Not a good choice if you’ve never owned a dog, especially a working dog, before. If you can give them what they need, they will be the most awesome, intelligent, well-behaved companions and herding dogs. If you don’t, they can be pushy, naughty, out of control and destructive.
Puppies are well socialized, raised in the house with little kids, two cats and lots of attention. We’re doing our best to give them the best start possible, so you can start off on the right foot. All names are just for communication purposes--you can name them whatever you want. Puppies listed in order of their pictures. Hair length is still a guess.
LeRoy Brown: male, brown with white collar, very relaxed and sweet, largest puppy in the litter, looks like he's going to be a big sweet boy like daddy, kinda lazy. Medium coat?
Jimmy: male, black with a white collar and mostly white face, very sweet and friendly, super loving pretty energetic, so much fun. Medium/long haired.
Bandit: male, red merle with brown ears and a black spot, very alert, first to walk and bark and get out of the pen, a little less friendly than his brothers. Probably needs an experienced home to bring out his best qualities. Short haired, double coat.
Lena: female, black with white collar, smallest puppy, total lover girl. Absolutely a darling. Medium/Long haired.
Blue: female, blue merle with black ears, sweet and friendly, short haired with double coat, we might be keeping her--waiting to see how her personality evolves.
Matilda: female, tri-colored with merle, more reserved and fearful but still friendly once she warms up, very short hair with no undercoat, we're probably keeping her--waiting to see how her personality evolves.
Please email us or send us a message through our contact page if you're interested in meeting them! Thank you!
